  • Breast Lift

This is a 42 year old woman that came to our office in Tucson, Arizona because she was interested in a breast lift. She is a mother of one and had breast fed. She wore a D cup bra and felt happy with the size of her breasts, but did not like how her breast sagged after pregnancy and breast feeding. During our consultation I learned she did not have a strong family history of breast cancer. She had noted a mass in her left breast that had been worked up and biopsied, and was found to be a fibroadenoma, which is a benign breast tumor. Her recent mammograms had been all normal and did not show any suspicious lesions. The distance from her sternal notch to nipple was 31 cm on the left side and 28 cm on the right side. I explained to her that everyone has asymmetry between their breasts and that our breasts are “cousins not twins”.  Since she was happy with the size of her breasts I explained that she would benefit from a breast lift to reshape her breasts, and return the nipples to a more youthful position. In a breast lift the existing breast tissue is maintained and repositioned, so the nipple is above the breast fold. Her surgery was performed at an outpatient surgery center in Tucson, Arizona. The blood supply to the nipple-areola complex was maintained using an inferior pedicle. After her surgery she was discharged to home. Her postoperative course was uneventful. She is now 10 months out from her breast lift and she loves how her breasts look!  She is thrilled her breasts no longer sag and she feels happy and confident in the appearance of her breasts.
