This is a 26-year-old woman who lives in Tucson, Arizona that came to Rao Plastic Surgery because she was interested in a breast augmentation. She was a C cup and was looking to be a double D cup. She had not had any breast problems in the past, and did not have a family history of breast cancer. During her initial consultation her physical exam did not reveal any breast abnormalities, nor did she have any sagging or drooping of her breast tissue that would necessitate a breast lift at the same time as augmentation surgery. I took measurements of her breast tissue to help determine with her what size breast implants would best achieve her goals. Using the Mentor implant sizing system she tried on a variety of sizers and like the appearance of a 500 cc breast implant. I explained that based on her base width measurements I would recommend using a high profile implant, so the breast implant would sit within her base width. I explained that I would use an inframammary fold incision and place her implant behind the muscle. I explained that placing the implant behind the muscle would reduce the risk of implant rippling and wrinkling and also decrease the risk of developing capsular contracture. Her surgery was done at an outpatient surgery center in Tucson, Arizona. She had 500 cc Mentor smooth round high profile implants placed through an inframammary incision using a Keller funnel. She tolerated her surgery well and was discharged home the same day. She is four months out from her surgery and loves the results from her breast augmentation surgery!
