- Mohs Skin Care Reconstruction
This is a 64 year old woman from Tucson, Arizona that had a basal cell skin cancer on her left cheek. She was referred by her dermatologist for Mohs surgery. She underwent Mohs surgery and was left with a 4 cm defect on her left medial cheek. She was referred to Rao Plastic Surgery by dermatology for closure of the defect. During her initial consultation I explained that the defect was too large to close with sutures alone and that it would require a flap to close the defect. Based on the location and size of the defect I had recommended a cervicofacial flap. Her cervicofacial flap was performed as an outpatient at a Tucson, Arizona area hospital. The cervicofacial flap was able to close the defect. She was discharged home from the hospital. She followed up in the office one week later for suture removal. She is now one year out from the closure of her defect and she cannot believe how great her result was.
